About this role

The Business Development Representative (BDR) will be actively involved in outreach to target accounts, inbound leads, and marketing qualified leads. The goal is to gather Sales intelligence and handle early-stage opportunities for Accela, a leader in government software solutions.

In this role, you will conduct sales development best practices using email, phone, and social drips via sales automation software to build cadences. You will qualify prospects, set appointments for the team to conduct Discovery calls, and support Sales and Marketing campaign initiatives.

You will collaborate with the Sales team to develop and implement effective lead generation strategies. Day-to-day work includes research to find new contacts, understanding potential clients' needs and pain points, and maintaining accurate records in the CRM system.

This position offers a strong foundation for building Sales expertise with a proactive, self-motivated team. The ideal candidate has a desire to learn and develop their Sales skills while contributing to thriving communities through Accela's cloud-based platform.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to achieve and set goals and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn
  • Basic understanding of Sales principles and customer service practices
  • Familiarity with CRM software such as SalesForce
  • Familiarity with Outreach, LinkedIn, Demand Base, and Marketo
  • Ability to travel 10-15%

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities through outbound and inbound prospecting
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly targets for lead generation and appointment setting
  • Conduct Sales development best practices with email, phone, and social drips using sales automation software to build cadences
  • Qualify prospects and set appointments for the team to conduct Discovery calls
  • Outreach to target prospects in support of Sales and Marketing campaign initiatives
  • Secure key customer information to identify qualified Sales-ready leads and prospective customers to be nurtured
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to develop and implement effective strategies for lead generation
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM system
