Ulteig seeks a Graduate Engineer for the Substation Department. The role involves performing routine engineering tasks and creating drawings, calculations, and designs under the supervision of experienced engineers. Hybrid office presence supports learning and team collaboration.

The engineer assists with physical substation arrangements, sections and elevations, conduit and grounding layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and material lists. Additional work includes design calculations, sketches, plan preparation, and technical comparisons within the substation market.

Work occurs alongside engineering technicians and experienced electrical engineers on multi-discipline projects. The position requires applying standard engineering techniques and preparing reports and correspondence for assigned projects, with up to 15 percent travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Engineering internship experience preferred.
  • Electrical power systems coursework preferred.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US.
  • Up to 15% travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of physical substation arrangements, sections/elevations, conduit/grounding layout plans, schematics, wiring diagrams, and material lists.
  • Perform design calculations, sketches, plan preparation, and technical comparisons within the substation market.
  • Apply current engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete assigned engineering tasks.
  • Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports that meet sound engineering practice standards.
  • Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality and practice efficiency in design selection.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
  • Work closely with engineering technicians and experienced electrical engineers on multi-discipline projects.
