The Demand Experiences team engineers platforms for rewards and promos used by millions of consumers and all Grab businesses. As a Backend Software Engineering Intern, you will write clean code and contribute to products impacting millions.

You will work with engineers and product teams to understand requirements and build features. Participate in technical discussions, write readable testable code, and collaborate with QAs for stable releases. Debug issues in production-grade distributed systems and suggest codebase improvements.

The team spans Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, focusing on user-friendly products that drive sustainable growth for consumers and merchants. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work onsite in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. This paid internship offers hands-on exposure in a collaborative environment.

Gain exposure to the full software development lifecycle with experienced engineers. Learn Golang and production systems while sharing knowledge with interns and teammates. Grow technical skills through real contributions to high-impact platforms.

Requirements

Can start from May 2026 onwards with a minimum duration of 3 months
Pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Computer Science or a related field
Foundation in Computer Science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, and system design basics
Programming experience in any language and interest to learn Golang
Passionate about building products and features that solve user problems
Learner who is not afraid to ask questions and own your work
Some proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab
Some exposure with a data warehouse like Snowflake, Redshift, or Spark

Responsibilities

Work with engineers and product teams to understand requirements and contribute to product features
Participate in technical discussions and learn from experienced engineers across teams
Write clean, readable, and testable code under guidance
Collaborate with QAs to ensure features are tested and stable before release
Help improve the codebase by identifying areas for improvement and suggesting solutions
Learn how to debug and troubleshoot issues in a production-grade distributed system
Share knowledge and insights with fellow interns and teammates
