About this role

Wordsmith is the AI command centre for in-house legal teams, automating intake, Q&A, redlines, drafting, and research. We are hiring a Commercial Associate (SDR) to spearhead outbound efforts and book high-quality opportunities with general counsel and legal leaders.

You will build and execute targeted outbound campaigns across email, cold calling, and LinkedIn. The role requires consistently hitting monthly meeting-booked and pipeline targets while maintaining meticulous CRM data on accounts, prospects, and outreach activity.

We operate as an in-office team in New York in a high-performance, early-stage environment. Priorities shift quickly and there is not always a clear playbook, so resilience and a willingness to experiment are essential.

You will receive direct mentorship from sales leadership and close collaboration with Account Executives. The role offers stock options with real upside and a performance-based path to Account Executive.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of SaaS sales or lead generation experience (experience selling to legal, finance, or compliance is a major plus).
  • A relentless work ethic — you aren't afraid of the phone and view "no" as data, not a deterrent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; you can cut through the noise with clear, value-led messaging.
  • High curiosity and coachability; you want to master the product, the market, and the art of sales.
  • High ownership — you take responsibility for outcomes, not just logging activities.
  • Organized, consistent, and reliable with excellent time management.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute targeted outbound campaigns (email, cold calling, LinkedIn) to general counsel and legal leaders.
  • Consistently hit and exceed monthly meeting-booked and pipeline targets.
  • Partner closely with AEs to strategize on key accounts and ensure smooth handoffs.
  • Act as a feedback loop for Marketing and Product by tracking what messaging resonates most with the market.
  • Maintain meticulous CRM data — keeping track of accounts, prospects, and outreach activity.
