About this role
The Outbound Business Development Representative generates new pipeline by proactively engaging target accounts through strategic outbound prospecting. The role focuses on identifying and engaging high-value prospects across priority industries and accounts using personalised outreach to create new opportunities for the sales team.
Daily work centres on cold calling, personalised email outreach, LinkedIn prospecting and social engagement to reach key decision-makers. The representative builds and nurtures a strong pipeline of qualified prospects while executing structured account-based prospecting programs aligned to defined target lists.
Close collaboration occurs with Sales, the ABM & Field Marketing Manager and account executives to prioritise accounts based on industry focus, ideal customer profile and intent signals. Marketing initiatives such as campaigns, event follow-up and webinars are leveraged to drive meeting generation within the territory.
Success is measured by consistent account penetration, monthly meeting and opportunity targets, and a conversion benchmark where activity produces opportunities at a rate above three percent. Accurate records are maintained in Salesforce and sales engagement platforms to track pipeline value created.
Requirements
- Experience executing outbound prospecting via cold calling, email and LinkedIn.
- Familiarity with Salesforce and sales engagement platforms for activity tracking.
- Ability to research accounts and interpret intent signals for prioritisation.
- Understanding of account-based marketing principles and ideal customer profiles.
- Skill in preparing account executives with relevant opportunity context.
Responsibilities
- Generate new sales opportunities through proactive outreach including cold calling, personalised email outreach, LinkedIn prospecting and social engagement.
- Identify and engage key decision-makers within target accounts.
- Execute structured account-based prospecting programs aligned with target account lists.
- Secure qualified meetings between prospects and the sales team that align with the agreed ICP.
- Research accounts to identify potential business needs, challenges and opportunities.
- Maintain accurate prospect and activity records within Salesforce and sales engagement platforms.
- Track performance across activity levels, meetings booked, opportunities generated and pipeline value created.
- Collaborate with ABM & Field Marketing Manager and Sales to prioritise accounts using industry focus and intent signals.
