About this role

This entry-level role offers a foundation in mechanical engineering within a global infrastructure firm. Under close supervision, you will perform routine engineering assignments that require applying basic engineering principles to prescribed techniques and procedures.

Your day-to-day work involves contributing to the preparation of less complex engineering deliverables, such as drawings, reports, and specifications of limited scope. You will collect and manage data for engineering work, prepare basic engineering calculations, and perform routine research to support equipment and materials selection.

You will collaborate with project leadership and share information with team members as directed, focusing on the needs of internal clients while gaining a basic understanding of external client interests. The role supports continuous improvement and change management efforts within a structured team environment.

This position provides an opportunity to develop familiarity with departmental design guides, standards, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies. You will build a foundation for future growth by learning from experienced professionals and contributing to real-world projects.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized accredited program
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to mechanical engineering
  • Basic industry knowledge and technology trends
  • Basic knowledge of company quality program
  • Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles
  • Learning on the Fly, Problem Solving, and Intellectual Horsepower
  • Written Communications, Drive for Results, Informing, Listening, and Dealing with Ambiguity

Responsibilities

  • Develop familiarity by reading, understanding, and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes
  • Contribute to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope
  • Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
  • Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work
  • Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis
  • Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
  • Share information with others as requested and coordinate with project leadership
  • Support continuous improvement and change management efforts
