About this role
Seymour Whyte is a successful civil contracting business operating in Australia for over 35 years, now entering an exciting period of growth. We have an opportunity for a Civil Engineering undergraduate or graduate to work 2-3 days per week on one of our construction projects.
You will gain hands-on experience, structured training, and mentoring from industry experts while contributing to infrastructure that delivers real community impact. Your day-to-day work will involve supporting our Operations teams on challenging civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, rail, airports, and water infrastructure.
Our supportive environment is driven by a strong pipeline of diverse projects, offering a chance to learn, grow, and play a meaningful role in our continued success. You will collaborate with experienced professionals and attend bi-annual development days to network with industry leaders and peers.
For undergraduates, this role provides real on-the-job experience during study and a pathway into our Graduate Program. Graduates join a two-year program built around our Engineering Competency Matrix, giving a clear pathway to track growth and accelerate your career.
Requirements
- Graduates must have completed a Bachelor of Civil Engineering
- Undergraduates must be studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in the 3rd or 4th year
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Excel
- Previous work experience whilst studying, preferably in construction (any industry considered)
- Current Driver’s Licence and own transport (many projects are in regional locations)
- Ongoing right to work in Australia
- Successful applicants must undergo a pre-employment medical and criminal history check

- Work on complex civil engineering projects, including roads, bridges, rail, airports, ports, water infrastructure, dams, resources, and renewables
- Gain hands-on exposure to construction projects and develop valuable industry skills from day one
- Contribute to infrastructure that delivers real community impact
- Attend bi-annual development days to network and learn from industry leaders
- Participate in structured training and mentoring from industry experts
- Support Operations teams in delivering challenging civil engineering projects
- Track your growth and success using the Engineering Competency Matrix (for graduates)
