CIMA+ seeks a motivated Civil/Structural Engineering Trainee interested in developing their career in energy transmission and substations. Based in the Mississauga office, join the Transmission & Distribution Lines team for exposure to projects across Canada. Under direct supervision of a Professional Engineer, contribute to structural and foundation design tasks while building practical experience toward licensure.

Assist in structural and foundation design of overhead transmission lines and station facilities, typically 60kV to 500kV. Support route selection studies, structure analysis, and foundation design calculations. Perform structural analysis using industry software tools like S-FRAME or STAAD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 1–3 years of relevant T&D engineering experience
  • Basic knowledge of structural analysis principles and reinforced concrete/steel design fundamentals
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., S-FRAME, STAAD)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the structural and foundation design of overhead transmission lines and associated station facilities (typically 60kV to 500kV)
  • Support route selection studies, structure analysis, and foundation design calculations
  • Perform structural analysis and modeling using industry software tools
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
  • Support the development of design documentation such as design basis, scope of work, construction work package and material take-offs
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, mechanical) to support project design requirements
  • Participate in internal design reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers
  • Provide support during construction, including responding to RFIs and participating in occasional field visits under supervision
