About this role

Join Alstom's team delivering the Sector 1 North (S1N) ETCS project in Brisbane, QLD. This critical initiative installs European Train Control System Level 2 signalling on the SEQ rail network to enhance safety and capacity. Assist in developing tools and processes for project data to manage costs and schedules effectively.

Based in the Brisbane CBD project office, travel periodically to the Sunshine Coast site. Initiate, plan, create Work Breakdown Structures, monitor, control, analyse, communicate, and close out project costs and schedules. Work alongside experienced planners and cost engineers on real project data.

Support cross-discipline coordination by integrating scheduling inputs from various teams. Help monitor project performance, identifying variances and preparing progress reports. Gain exposure to resource planning and cost engineering in a fast-paced environment.

Build practical planning skills through activity duration estimates and schedule logic. Develop analytical capabilities with quantity tracking and earned value analysis. Communicate insights clearly in financial and scheduling reports for stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactive and agile approach to work autonomously in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Willingness to learn and travel to site (Sunshine Coast) when required
  • Australian recognized Bachelors degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Software or similar
  • Analytical mindset for handling project data, costs, and schedules

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining accurate scopes of work and updating schedules across multiple disciplines
  • Support cross-discipline coordination by integrating scheduling inputs
  • Assist with activity duration estimates, work sequences, and schedule logic development
  • Support quantity tracking, progress curves, and installation forecasts for assigned disciplines
  • Assist with job-hour estimates, manpower loading, and basic schedule levelling activities
  • Monitor project performance, identifying schedule variances and preparing impact reports
  • Support budgeting, estimating, cost reporting, and earned value analysis activities
  • Collect, analyse, and validate cost and schedule information for decision-making
