The ‘Pronto’ team is the largest supplier of mobile police apps in the UK, used by around 30,000 police officers daily. Work as part of an agile team taking part in sprint planning sessions, daily scrums, sprint reviews and retrospectives. Our relaxed but hardworking environment encourages good ideas and debate.

Write Java, XSLT and use in-house tools to produce Android applications. Gain exposure to the full life cycle of a project, including requirements capture, design, implementation and testing. No previous experience needed beyond a strong degree, with full training provided by experienced staff.

After gaining experience, progress into Senior Developer, Business Analyst or Project Management roles based on preference and abilities. Meet end users to understand requirements, with occasional accompanied customer site visits involving travel. We support new graduates encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • 3 years UK residency required for security check
  • Minimum 2:1 degree in BSc Computing Science, BSc Software Engineering, MSc Software Engineering or similar
  • Some experience with Java
  • Excellent general understanding of programming concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required

Responsibilities

  • Write Java code for Android applications
  • Use XSLT and in-house tools to produce mobile police apps
  • Participate in agile processes including sprint planning, daily scrums, reviews and retrospectives
  • Capture requirements from end users
  • Design, implement and test software throughout the project lifecycle
  • Meet customers to understand end user needs
  • Undertake occasional travel to customer sites accompanied by experienced team members
