About this role
The Quality Engineer Technician supports product quality, yield performance, and QMS effectiveness within manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with ISO 9001 and customer requirements. It applies engineering and statistical methods to improve process stability, yield, and cost of quality across fabrication processes.
Day-to-day involves providing production support to resolve quality issues and minimize downtime. Perform root cause analysis for scrap, rework, and yield loss. Collaborate with fabrication, coating, polishing, and engineering teams to maintain process stability and yield.
Works cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and customers. Ensures consistent delivery of high-performance, reliable products. Supports supplier quality activities including incoming quality and SCARs.
Engage in continuous improvement through Lean initiatives and identifying yield reliability opportunities. Implement SPC on critical parameters and develop reports for quality metrics. Train operators on quality and inspection standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 2-5+ years in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing
- Strong background in process quality, SPC, DOE, and root cause analysis
- Effective cross-functional communication skills
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS processes
- Experience with SPC, DOE, FMEA, CAPA, and control plans
- Proficiency with Minitab, JMP, Python, Tableau or similar tools
- Familiarity with semiconductor, optical, or precision manufacturing
Responsibilities
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 and internal QMS requirements
- Execute CAPA using structured problem-solving methods (8D, DMAIC)
- Collaborate with fabrication, coating, polishing, and engineering teams to support process stability and yield
- Provide day-to-day production support to resolve quality issues and minimize downtime
- Implement and maintain SPC on critical process parameters
- Analyze process capability (Cp/Cpk/Ppk), yield, and defect trends
- Participate in PFMEA/DFMEA and maintain risk assessments
- Support Lean improvement initiatives and train operators on quality standards
